Apostille is a special type of attestation for the counties who is member of which signed the Hague Convention Abolishing the Requirement of Legalization of Foreign Public Documents, popularly known as The Hague Convention.

It specifies the modalities through which a document issued in one of the signatory countries. Such a certification is called an apostille (a French word meaning certification).

There are currently over 60 member states of the Hague convention. Virtually any official document can be legalised through the Apostille process.
